Data Recovery

If you have a drive that is damaged and need data recovery done, we can help with that. For data recovery from a damaged or non-working drive, you have two main options:

Professional – A company that specializes in Data Recovery, has a high chance of getting data back, and charges a lot of money for their expert service.

There are several data recovery companies here in North America that we have used in the past to recover data. If you need your data, then sending the drive to a professional data recovery company is the way to go. Costs range from $300-$3,000 (or even more for specialized cases).

Why bring your hard drive to us instead of taking it right to a local data recovery company? I had one customer who took their dead Macbook laptop (a spilled drink killed it) to a local data recovery company in Meridian. They were quoted over $6,000 to recover the data. They decided not to do it, and reached out to me for a second opinion. I mailed it to a company I work with and a couple weeks later had the data back, the total bill to the customer was around $650, which included my fee. This is not always the case, but this is an actual example from 2025.

Non-Professional – If you WANT your data back, but are 100% sure that you will not pay for one of the professional data recovery companies to fix it, then we can try fixing it. We charge much less, but also can only do certain things. After we work on it then a professional data recovery company may not even accept it, or will charge more money. This is why you should only have us try if you are 100% sure you won’t decide to go with a professional data recovery with that drive.

We can fix certain things, but other things we won’t even attempt (we don’t have a purified clean air system to ensure absolutely no dust gets in a drive), and don’t have experience in transferring heads from one drive to another. If the issue is a small component like a capacitor, there is a good chance we can fix that.

Again, if you need your data, then go with the professional company to start out with. Only try the non-professional if you are 100% sure you will not pay for the professional recovery service.
